“I had the fundamental yoga teaching materials from my initial 200 hour Teacher Training and had been teaching for three years when I signed up… however, this training gave me the tools to improve my teaching 150%. Alicia is a phenomenal teacher who is highly educated in the skills and techniques of teaching, specifically with the prenatal students”

-Colie, Certified Trinatal Yoga Teacher, RPYT

“I learned much more than I was expecting… I especially love how Alicia helped us to bring the focus on to WHY we practice the way that we do, what is best practice and how to incorporate heart language and theming into our unique teaching styles!”

-Hanna, Certified Trinatal Yoga Teacher, LDEM, CPM

• Birth year anatomy that will give you a deep understanding of the changes that take place in the mind and body

• Alignment for pregnant/postpartum students is different from some traditional alignment techniques, you’ll know how to cue form and foundation that is suited for the body before and after birth

• When and WHY to modify so that you have more than a list of yes/no poses- anyone can memorize a list but you’ll know exactly when, how and WHY to adjust the poses.

• Contraindications, because every pose has pros and cons- being able to clearly explain that to your students will make you a highly sought after teacher

• Pelvic Floor Education so that you can become an expert on the pelvic floor and core with the most recent and up to date education available, taught by professionals in the field of Physical Therapy and Pelvic Floor Health

• Holding space for the wide variety of experiences that your students bring to the classroom. Knowing that you are prepared to handle any situation that arises will give you the confidence you need to hold the seat of the teacher

• Class sequencing that is appropriate for all levels/stages of pregnancy and how to craft a class that is safe and effective for postnatal students Language and theming skills to help you speak like a professional and teach your classes in a way that is clear and meaningful

• How to market your classes and build a sustainable business using a proven model that will pay you time and time again

• How to retain students with a recruitment/retention process so that your marketing actually works and your paying students keep coming back (hint! you’ll need more than an Instagram account)

• The business of yoga: training is great but you also need to run a business! We give you the tools to get started creating your personal brand so that you can succeed in any market

• The ethics of yoga: We’ll have many discussions on how to stay in alignment with yogic principles and philosophy AND how to put those concepts into a practical framework for teaching and running a thriving business!

• How to become a highly-resourced and well-connected yoga instructor so that you can create a network that helps sustain and promote your business while you support your community

• Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Yoga spaces is must-have training for anyone that wants to be a mindful, modern yoga instructor.

• Honoring the roots of yoga: yes we discuss the 8 limbs of yoga and philosophy and how that applies to prenatal and postnatal yoga. If you think that’s pointless stuff this isn’t the training for you!

And most importantly:

• How to teach prenatal and postnatal yoga! Not just in theory, not just some class templates, but actually teaching! We learn from each other as a group, giving and receiving feedback in real-time in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training is currently offered as a part of the Prenatal Yoga Training Cohort

Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training is a certification program designed for teachers who want to better serve new parents during the postpartum period. The training covers everything from how to modify for new parents in a public/mixed-level class to how to create and establish a postnatal-specific yoga class.

Topics include the wide range of modifications needed to address different levels of healing after birth, how to check for and monitor Diastasis Recti, practices to improve pelvic floor function and health, considerations for anatomical/physiological recovery and more- so much more!

The postnatal section hours are eligible for 18 Yoga Alliance CEU's (this is separate, in addition to the hours needed for the RPYT designation) The training is also approved for SMS elective hours for the Anusara (ASHY) advanced teacher training modules (500 hr).

Prenatal Yoga Certification/Teacher Training is a prerequisite for the postnatal training module. Currently all postnatal yoga trainings are offered in the same module as the Prenatal Yoga Certification.
